The Cars/Planes Universe Perplexes Me...

If humans don't exist then I have no idea why I see the things I do in these movies ie. apartment buildings, gas stations with restrooms etc.
At first I was questioning why there'd be a crop duster in the first place, but apparently they use the crops for fuel.

Anyways, just doesn't make sense...and the whole 'it's a kid's movie' excuse doesn't apply, because there's a ton of 'kid's movies' that make perfect sense.

"Well...I've seen enough. Come on Charlie, we're going home."

Apparently all Pixar movies happen in the same universe. To find answer to your perplexion you should see Wall-e, something happen to the planet and all humans flew away.

This will help:

It's just supposed to be an exact replica universe, with the same history just with the planes, cars, etc. in place of humans. I don't know how it was previous to the 20th century, but even the founding statue in Cars was dated 1909, so I can assume it just spontaneously created itself around in the late 1890s/early 1900s. The fact that this universe has the same World War II (even though they never specifically show the Japanese, part of the problem of making films for foreign distribution nowadays) is a nice touch. They only show the Pacific but I assume the European/North African theatre was the same as well... I also saw for a second an A-7 (or it could have been an F-8, just saw it for a second) and an F-4 on the "Jolly Wrenches" wall, so I assume there was also a Vietnam War...
