A true measure of the popularity of any movie is how many times it was downloaded as a pirated copy. Well, the number of downloads for You Can't Kill Stephen King is a dismal ZERO. It's not available through illegitimate channels even though it has been released now for months. That's disappointing for the movie in a morally ambiguous kind of way since, as reprehensible as piracy is, it is often the only way for indie projects to gain any popularity.

So this is available through less than legitimate channels since a few days. I've watched the first fifteen minutes or so of the movie and then skipped through the rest since I didn't like what I saw. This is extremely formulaic crap. I guess that would be fine for some if there were some production values to it. After all, personally I really like movies like Wrong Turn and such. This however is extremely cheaply produced, badly written, horribly acted and yawn-inducing trash. It is however miles beyond anything Monroe Mann has done thus far. So I'll give him that. Be warned though, this is not in the so-bad-that-it's-good category. This is definitely in it's-really-bad territory.

Edit: Though overall the movie is very cheaply produced, I think that the editing is good.

Did Monroe Mann run over your dog or something? I mean, seriously, the amount of time you spent excoriating a movie you knew you wouldn't like from the start and ended up skipping through after pirating it ... Maybe you should be the subject of a obsessive-psycho-slasher film yourself?

In any case, I haven't seen Mann's other work so can't comment on that, but given the apparent budget this seems like a fairly good effort. I'm looking forward to seeing more in the future from this crew.
