Fans of 'The Room' who are excited about this, lower your expectations.

I saw the film at Comic-Con. It's 12 minutes long. Everyone there was clearly excited to see another directorial effort from Mr. Wiseau.

It's even listed here on IMDB that it is directed by him.

It's not. It's not written OR directed by him. He just stars in it. Him and everyone else in the film are clearly aware of how popular The Room was, and they are aware of WHY it was popular. This film did make the audience laugh, but for totally different reasons than The Room.

This short film is purposely bad. It's basically a comedy trying to be a bad film. What was great about the The Room is that you can't tell what in the hell they were going for. Some of those actors are clearly trying to act and just don't know how. "The House That Drips Blood on Alex" has a funny performance out of Wiseau, but it's because they wrote all his dialogue to sound like the crap he was saying in The Room. But that's just it...they are TRYING to make it sound bad. It's even debuting on Comedy Central in the fall.

Watch it with the expectation of laughing (because it does have funny parts...it's so stupid that it's funny.) And Tommy actually does elicit some genuine laughs from his line readings and saying stupid things, but they're all clearly in on the joke.

Thanks a lot!

I wasn't sure what to expect. Now I know how I have to see the movie.

Awww...how disappointing.

Thanks for the update man, not really sure if I want to see this now.. =/

Wiseau doing intentional comedy is what I feared the most :(

I hope he still tries to make serious movies too. Else I will be very disappointed.

reply

intentional or not, i don't think Tommy can give a performance that won't make me laugh.

reply

I agree completely...he is like Christopher Walken except a bad actor. Christopher Walken does the same thing to me.

reply

I personally got some laughs out of it.
But let's face it, now that Tommy knows he has no talent for dark, serious, dramatic narratives, he's not going to try making them anymore. A bad movie is what got him famous, so he's going to continue his career with intentionally bad movies.

It still made me laugh, but sure, it's not The Room because that was a sincere effort, and now he's in on the joke. Still, it's one funny joke. As I said elsewhere recently, I think he's this generation's William Shatner. I can't wait for him to record an album!

I'm watching it now, and I have to say... I'm kinda dissapointed. I hope I enjoy The Room more than this! (I ordered it, and it's supposed to arrive today.)

I just watched this. In some places, Wiseau seems to be talking as though someone put something in his drink.
