I am not attempting to stir up a debate on the veracity of these claims, but I'll attempt to address why some people do view Plan-B (morning after pills), in addition to regular or high dose BC pills and IUDs as abortificients.
There are studies that have shown that such forms of birth control act as abortificients because they do not always prevent fertilization. Instead, on occasion, fertilization does occur, but the zygote is prevented from implanting into the uterine wall, thus causing a termination of the pregnancy. Whether one believes that pregnancy begins at conception (fertilization) or implantation is where the controversy about these methods begins.
IMO, the best way to avoid this ethical dilemma in the first place is to not have random sex with a stranger who is already involved with another woman. But then we wouldn't a chance have these wacky hijinks ensue on screen!
