Lucy was played up as some awesome kickass agent...

At the beginning of the movie Lucy's presented as Gru's equal.

But by the middle of it, she's too dumb to realize who El Macho is and she becomes the damsel in distress. Barely helps with taking down Macho.

What the heck happened to her characterization?

One of the reasons I didn't like DM2 as much as the first one.

I agree.

At then end of the Film, the girls are so happy to have Lucy as a new mother, but what did she do in the film to actually bond with the kids?

What, tacking on "147 dates later" (and the insinuated bonding that happened in that time) wasn't great writing to you?

I guess I should be thankful that they did not just leave Lucy and the girls out of the movie entirely and just make it all about the minions.

That would be a terrible idea.

Yeah, they'd entitled it as the, "Minions" and try to make some crappy ass spin-off.

Oh wait...

She picked up the "Distress Ball"

A common crippling affliction to badass female characters.

But yeah I didn't like Lucy much. She just felt too forced. I liked it better when the focus was on Gru's life as a single father.
