Who else got disappointed?

I watched this movie today full of expectations but totally disappointed. There wasnt a single scene which would make me laugh. the storyline was random and cliched. Prequel was 1000 times better. The sickening thing is they have to infuse love in every kid's movie. Gross. above all the auntie was pretty annoying.

I haven't seen DM1, but I was disappointed too with this movie. I must admit, however, that I didn't obtain much information beforehand, just saw the trailer and my daughter said she'd like to see it. She also liked it. I didn't. I thought it is a movie that prepares kids for James Bond movies, I didn't like all the weapons and shooting and talk about killing people or dying. But having said that, if I had probably seen DM1 or read about the story, I wouldn't have been surprised. So it was a good vs evil story for kids, alright. Some scenes made me laugh and I liked the minions.

What I didn't like was the animation - the drawing of the bodies was just plain stupid - Gru with his big head and torso, but thin legs. Also El Macho was gross. A lot of fat people as well. (I am not skinny, mind you, but I didn't enjoy seeing all these big people - I know this does not sound politically correct and I don't mean to offend anyone here, it's just somehting I noticed). I guess it is alright for an animation to use caricatures and clichès, but the animation in this movie was just too annoying (I thought this of the Brave animated characters as well) as the bodies were just too disfigured.

Overall the movie was okay, especially as it is a kids' movie and my daughter, the main purpose for watching this movie, enjoyed it and even laughed her head off at some of the scenes.

Had you seen DM1, you would have known that silly weapons and silly bodies are an essential part of the franchise's charm. Your comment is akin to someone saying they don't like Roadrunner cartoons because of all the violence or Sylvain Chomet animation because the bodies are wildly disproportionate. Well, then they aren't your cup of tea, are they? In that sense, "disappointment" is the incorrect term. Disappointment implies a failure to meet your expectations, and you clearly had no business creating unrealistic expectations that did not hew to the formula of the movie or its characters. It's like saying, I watched Citizen Kane and I was disappointed it wasn't funnier.

I was disappointed. It was just booooring. There was no wit, no ingenuous plot twists, no mad capers and worst of all absolutely no adventure. I fell asleep half way because the story just wouldn't get started.

reply

Agree, there was no adventure and I thought when will something happen in this movie? But nothing did. It's because this movie was not about adventure, it was about Gru finding a wife. Compare this with The Incredibles and you'll see the huge difference.

nope, thought it was better than the first and is one of my favorite movies I've seen this year...then again with so much *beep* out there I don't want to waste my money so I don't see many movies these days...

 dude the movie tanked, and for you to say its better then part one makes me want to cry, you only THINK its better because there's more too it i.e another character (gru's love interest) and a plot

but the movie was garbage, why? because the first was meaningful, as a dude i still got very teary eyed when margo told gru that he loved him when he was tucking the girls into bed

why does this suck? well first of all i think its racist the bad guy just HAPPENS to be some ethnic, why can't the hero be ethnic example chinese?? why can't HE get the white girl?

second of all the hispanic villain aka Eduardo Perez, wasn't that bad, his just doing his job i.e being a villain Dr. Nefario was the REAL villain here

He felt left out of the loop and a loser (which he is, i mean his a old guy with no one in his life, gru is getting some and he isn't) eduardo takes him in and what does he do? betray him like a scumbag

granted i DO have some nice things to say about the movie, i'm usually sick of western movies always promoting teen dating, and you wonder why your kids always have sex and get pregnant, at least margo left his stupid love interest

which FYI is kind of offensive, if white girls like interracial relationship it always has to be some latino/black dude/english guy etc Why can't it be indian/asian/afghan etc?

plus what did eduardo do to gru? gru betraying his own villain kind and treating eduardo like crap selfishly because he wants the british chick, also so many people ganging up on eduardo, they're like bullies

the creators were too desperate to make gru a nice guy.

If someone likes the first movie, then they should like the second. I was forced to sit through the first movie with my niece who I was babysitting for, and ended up loving the first movie. Actually, the first movie had me early on when I saw Gru's car and realized that only a truly despicable person would have a car that polluted more than it actually moved. LOL

I volunteered to watch the second movie with her and loved that one as well.

No disappointment here..
