I am still watching the movie, so maybe this is answered later on - but why isn't anyone questioning the car accident story? There would be a police report and certainly a damaged car. it is such a huge plot hole. It is really bugging me that her parents took him at his word without dealing with a police report.

At the hospital the story he came up with is that Lizzie was not wearing a seatbelt and he swerved to miss a dog in the road and her face hit the dash.
shareI believe the OP is asking why they didn't look into the story after that night in the hospital. Why didn't the parents ask for a police report or even see Mark's car after that and see that it had damage (like in the hospital parking lot for one). I agree. I also thought it was unbelievable anyway to say she just the right side of her chin on the dashboard. That would make me question the story immediately, even if I was not suspicious of Mark at the time.
