It was produced by Unity Studios, who went in on a huge property investment with the City of Allen Park (Michigan) to create a huge film production studio. Because of Michigan's massive tax incentives/credits for the film industry, the intention was this building would be taken up by several tenants - pre-production, production and post-production companies - to account for the new booming film industry in Michigan. Well, Michigan never did become the Hollywood of the midwest. We got some film made out here but nothing permanent - in and out. A lot of companies that came in actually stiff suppliers on the bill (caterers, hotels, even municipal police and fire for security and safety) but still got their tax incentives. As it turns out, Unity Studios, who would own 85% of the massive infrastructure, didn't have the funding they led everyone to believe (or so the rumor goes). Allen Park had already sunk $25 million into the project and now faces receivership.

Long story short.... production company may or may not have the funding to release right now. Or they may be tied up in legality over the Michigan debacle.

Their Michigan phone line is disconnected.

Michigan made millions in revenue while the tax incentive was in place. Then Gov. Snyder got rid of the tax incentive and several major films that were to be made in Michigan went to other states. Snyder killed the industry as it was taking off.

I've been wondering about this for a while as the battles scenes were filmed outside of town here [Saline, MI]. Apparently, it was another victim of Governor Snyder's meataxe approach to cutting costs while not increasing revenue.

To set the record straight. From someone who was there the entire time.#1 The mayor of Allen Park bought a huge building appraised at $14 million dollars for $32 million dollars in bonds.#2 The building was missing walls,3/4 of the ceiling panels were gone and there were bare electrical wires hanging from the ceilings.#3 When channel 7 and the newspapers got after the Mayor, the Mayor and A.P. taxpayers pointed the finger at the studio.#4 The building has 18 entrances. The studio only had entrance number 5.#5 At their own expense the studio put up walls, replaced the ceiling panels and wires and fixed their small portion of the building up to where it looked nice.#6 It took students 1 1/2 years to qualify for funding under the "No Worker Left Behind" program.A programs whose entire budget for the year was gone each year by the end of January.#7 Then students had to be trained.#8 Then the students had to make 3 films.By then the Mayor, and the A.P. taxpayers were fighting with the first class in the newspaper.#9 Then as anyone who knows anything about films, these films go into video and sound editing for a year to a year and a half. But by this time Channel 7 was told by the mayor that, the studio was responsible for the whole building lie #1,that they were behind on their rent lie #2,and that the studio had promised to build what was an artists conception painting of what the studio should look like in 10 years immediately lie #3.So channel 7 continued to broadcast stories about the studio each time holding up the artist conception drawing of what the studio was supposed to look like in 10 years saying that this was supposed to have already been built. When the studio proved they were not behind on their rent, channel 7 refused to retract their story.
Two things were supposed to happen, there was supposed to be a school there,The Lifton Institute of Media Skills.Who did train two classes. But students have to have funding to run a school and the school has to make money at it.The second was Unity Studios which is a movie studio, which has to make films, have those films edited from between a year and a year and a half and market those films once released to make a profit. The school trained two classes in every department of filmaking. The studio made 3 films. And before these films could be edited the Mayor, the A.P. taxpayers and channel 7 continued to run artilces in the newspapers and stories on channel 7 blaming the school and studio, having absolutely no idea about the condition of the building when it was bought, the process of student funding, training students,or even a remote idea about filmaking and especially the time it takes to edit film.So because the Mayor,A.P. taxpayers and channel 7 expected all of these things to happen immediately based on lies. They all got what they deserved for chasing the school and the studio out.A huge debt for a delapidated building that was bought for $17 million dollars more than it's appraised value. The studio just went back to California and continued to win emmys for sound editing, like it had been doing for years. The Mayor, the A.P. taxpayers, and channel 7 got everything they deserved for posting false stories, and being in a huge hurry to create something they had absolutely no knowledge of-no school,no studio and a huge debt.So instead of there being a studio in the Downriver area still making movies. They have nothing, except a huge debt and nobody to blame except themselves .

Many thanks for this info as it explains the poor quality of the film (on many levels). It is a shame since I could see the potential of the story and actors. Let this film be an example of what happens with overall poor management.

You will be disappointed. It is a bad film and a waste of even $1 rental on DVD.
