If you're a fan of the trilogy, you're in for a huge treat

It is essentially Back to the Future 4 just as the Ghostbusters video game was Ghostbusters 3. It follows the basic outline of the previous film with tons of references, but it's still an original storyline. Plus, you get to meet Biff's father, George's father (and Marty's paternal grandfather), and a teenage Doc Brown. And that's just the first episode!

Frankly, I thought the first part of the game was written to be far better than the Ghostbusters game was.

Don't get me wrong, I liked the new game and most of it, up until it was reveal that the bad guy was Ivo Shandor and for some reason he's far more powerful than the God he worshipped that was the thing that let down the entire games story for me.

Since he became a spirit he's become more powerful. He was a genius.

I liked the first few levels of the ghostbusters game, but the last few levels were a pretty big departure from the films with the alternate dimensions and such and the humour really dried up. It would have worked better had the entire thing been in new york instead of different dimensions.

I've played through the first 2 episodes of this game and am enjoying them. I think it's only for back to the future fans, the puzzles are pretty easy but frankly i want to be able to play through and not spend hours figuring out the puzzles. It is a nice continuation of the game. One thing that part III did which was both good and bad was introduce ancestors to the McFly's and tannens Buford and Seamus. But these characters are Biff and Georges great grandfathers which mans theres 2 generations each unaccounted for (i am counting william since we only see him as a baby and in a picture). This game takes place in 1931 where we find Biffs father, Georges father, and maybe his mother as well. We also see Doc in his late teenage years which is neat seeing Marty and Doc the same age.

Also the one Tannen that we didnt get fleshed out was Griff; he's only in 2 scenes in part II and just seems like a clone of 1955 biff. Well by the sounds of the game, we will eventually see Griff in 2025.

The alternate dimensions is soo Ghostbusters, but they didn't have the technology to use it back then. Its very much apart of the movies, but you have to be a big GB fan to understand that.

And with the BTTF game, the story is good. I love seeing young Doc and George McFly's father and all of that. I just hate the game play. I know it would be hard to make it like a traditional game where you shoot things or fight since Back to the Futures doesn't really have any of that, but could the at least let you drive the damn car through time? Would that be so hard to do? No it wouldn't since there are youtube vids of people who made mods doing just that.

The game may grow on me, but I foolishly thought it was going to be a different kind of game play.

well it's the publisher; telltale makes puzzle games that are basically just point and click. Hopefully if the game sells we get more of a roaming game.

Also on the subject of ghostbusters, one complaint I had about the movies is that there was not much ghostbusting; we got one ghost hunt early in the films followed by a montage and the final battle. Like you said they were restricted by the technology at the time.

I like the game cuz it's back to the future but i probably wouldn't have any interest if it weren't a BTTF game.

The BTTF game has already grown on me a little because I like the story and the characters, so I know playing the next episodes will grow on me even further.

And I kind of agree with you on GB. I wish they busted more ghost. I mean, why didn't we see them go back to the library to get that librarian ghost? Its still my favorite film though.

The main issue I have with this game (and I have played all 5 Episodes, both on console and PC) is that spends far too much time stuck in the past. I didn't like the 1931 segments - they were too stereotypical and I didn't get the same vibe I got from the movies (yes, their depictions of their time periods were generic, I admit, but the filmmakers infused some charm and charisma into them, which made you forget about being a modern man for a while and want to blend in with Marty & Doc). I did like the Citizen Brown 1986 (I LOVE dystopian fiction) and even the brief trip to 1876 at the climax of Episode 5, but it was kind of too little, too late by then. The main plot linking the Episodes together felt like a loose retread of BTTF 2 but with very little of the intrigue that made it interesting (I'm not just talking about the 2015 segment, either). The surprise ending, which is a very unique and original callback to the end of BTTF 1, made me raise a chuckle, as did the use of "Back in Time" by Huey Lewis & The News over the credits of the final episode. However, as a game... it's a little better than average if I have to be honest.
