Question about a certain scene. *possible spoilers*

Later on we see Robert go to a room to see why the bell in that room was ringing. Before that we see him go into that same room and say "she's downstairs" who is he talking to if Maud and Tom were in that one room and Florence was in another and Robert making it clear later on that there are only 3 people there at that time....?
