LOL...Not even Romanian names..

Given the fact that they use the vampire myth and its Romanian origins,at least they could have thought of Romanian names. Vasilissa,Dimitri,Dragomir are all Bulgarian names..That's what happens when one spends more on catering than on research :))

reply

Blame the author since she's the one would decided to use them, the movie simply just kept them as in the book.

Besides the reason for the name, Vasilisa, is explained in a short prequel called "Sunshine."

I would always rather be happy than dignified.

reply

Why blame anybody? Just amused :))

reply

Richelle Mead simply implemented Romanian mythology into her series.....the Academy is in Montana.

It's also explained that Dimitri is Russian. Hence why the 4th book is set primarily in Russia.

reply

In the book it's explained that most Moroi come from eastern Europe; Romania being one country of origin, but Russia and other Slavic countries being others.

One of the 12 royal families is Badica, which is a Romanian name. However, they don't have a too big role in the novels.

The mythology is Romanian, not the story.
