the script is plagiarized from Absurdistan (2008)

just have a look at this movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1027658/
Absurdistan, from 2008. It has exactly the same plot as Mihaileanu's Source.
I have watched Absurdistan and consider it a wonderful piece of art. I wonder is Mr Mihaileanu and his script writer short on imagination, so he need to copy the script from an already-made movie?
this is pathetic, and i think also he can be sued at law for breaking the copyright laws.

The first thing that came to mind when reading the summary was "An Absurdistan remake already!?"

"I'm - I'm hurt real bad. I think I'm dying"

pathetic indeed.

Deal with it, TSN!

I think they are both inspired by Aristophanes' "Lysistrata" (411 B.C.)

I haven't seen Absurdistan and wonder if the OP has seen The Source.

There is one part of the plot and the setting in villages that are similar and that seems it. I don't consider taking the idea of a sex strike amongst Muslim women as plagiarism anymore than any geenric romantic comedy. Absurdistan is not set in North Africa so I doubt it has the dancing, music, chanting and feature the Maghreb people and their way of life.

The point of a film is never the plot but the telling of the story. Unlike some I consider this film to be an advocate of the Muslim religion as much as it shows the unsavoury side of religious fundamentalism and, the much more prevalent, sexism.

Actually,it's basic plot comes from Aristophanes' "Lysistrati",a great speciment of the Athenian Comedy

When I was watching this movie, I realized something: I knew this story from somewhere. After a little search I found this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0494816/
This was one of the most interesting movies of Turkish film industry; with an exceptional actor Sener Sen and unique actress Mujde Ar.
Absurdistan is similiar to "La source des femmes" but "Salvar davasi" aka "The Baggy Trousers Case" has nearly same story; and also from 30 years ago!
I'm from Turkey and huge fan of Mr. Mihaileanu (Le Concert was amazing); but I'm questioning now, did he watch "The Baggy Trousers Case" or not!
By the way; I don't like to use the word "plagiarized" for the movie makers...
