But curiously it was still enjoyable. It was such an undemanding, happy, feel-good little film that i couldn't help smiling and getting into the convoluted storyline. The only chore was all the product placement. So blatant it was untrue.

The critics, who hated it, and others have commented that it used stereotypical ethnic - German, French, Italian, British - characters to make jokes. I noticed that as well, thrilled that we can make fun of ourselves without fear of the Politically Correct Police crying "Achtung".
The settings were gorgeous. Yes, the story was hokey but it's a Rom-Com. Ron-Coms don't cure cancer or receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
Yes, totally agree. Handled correctly, that stereotyping of nationalities can be really funny. Does no one remember Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines?
