Plot twist I though would have been cool...

It would have been cool if at some point we find out that the creature is indeed just a man in a suit, one of the hillbillies trying to start a local folk lore to lure in tourists, to kill them or whatever. Then it would make sense that the creature looked so fake, especially in those close ups with the human eyes behind the mask. I though for sure that's where it was going. Alas, it is not.
