Combo

Why did Combo take the wrap for Mick's murder? I don't get it. He could have just walked away and Lol would have been sentenced not him.

If you've seen the film, you'll know he has feelings for Lol following some sex they had which she regretted but he misinterpreted as love. I thought I heard him mumble "I love you Lol", when he was consoling her at the end.

His reappearance in TiE86 showed a man completely down on his luck, seemingly nowhere to live and with a mother passed away the night before.

He probably felt he had nothing to lose and that this act would ingratiate him to her.

I think you can also infer that Compo almost welcomed a return to prison, perhaps he felt more comfortable in there than in the real world.

Yeah, I agree with that.

He might have felt that he was better off banged up. Mind you, the other inmates didn't exactly welcome him back in with open arms. Would be interesting to see how Combo's life is inside, considering his political views etc.

He was speaking very quietly, but I think I heard him say along the lines of "I love you Lol...I know you don't love me but.." before it went to the adverts.

agreed, and he kept saying also "Let me do a good thing, let me do a good thing" he would never have walked away from Lol, she was the only person he'd ever loved, he tried to get her dad the first time she told him years ago (said in Ep 1 i think) but he was too little, this is his way of doing something right by her this time.
