what idiot takes his pregnant wife to a third world country?

It's the wife that took the husband there, she convinced him, remember ? They seemed to have a happy family, with cute kids, nice house, I believe in order to have all that they must be good parents and smart. The wife is an English teacher, she doesn't look like the type of woman who is stupid enough to get wasted when she's pregnant but she drunk, smoked, and use drug while she's pregnant, as if they had no education at all. Stupid characters, bad plot, horrible movie that's all.

Well, yeah ... but, remember, as Startheman said, she convinced the husband, after the sister convinced her. Besides, you could maybe imagine she wanted to keep a little bit of an eye on her sister, who was basically an idiot, as, you know, Jeremy was just too perfect of a catch to still be available and so nice to Steph and everyone on such short acquaintance; I would have been a little suspicious of him ... just a little bit too good to believe. Plus, Alice had already been through two pregnancies so she was a veteran and probably thought she knew what she could and could not do. Plus, you can imagine the lure of southeast asia when you actually have the opportunity to go ... grandma's willing to watch the kids, wife barely showing. I'm not sure anyone knew Jeremy had drugs, it may have been a split-second decision when they were already partying. (I also am not sure we ever saw Alice actually take a pill.) Remember, too, these people live in Australia, do they not? Cambodia is probably a vacation backyard for them, a far more common and accepted destination than for people in North America or even Britain I would imagine.

Especially since they already have a nice house on a lovely beach so what's the point of going to Cambodia where you can't drink the water and they have flies buzzing over all the food like is shown? I am American and I would choose an Australia vacation over Cambodia anyday. Australia itself has all the beaches you would want.

Cambodia, Thailand, all those types of countries really are where Aussies go to vacation. And why do YOU care why they went to a third world country? They went because the woman wanted to protect her sister. The sister wanted to show her sister and husband a good time before their life disappeared further into the black hole of parenthood. Would you have had them go to America? Switzerland? Going to a third world country doesn't make you a POS.

My issue with it was she was drinking like a fish at 25-29 weeks pregnant, smoking pot, smoking cigarettes, and taking E. I don't care how upset she was her hubby shagged her sister ONCE, she was a moron and the epitome of Darwin's theory. If it was a perfect world her stupid @ss would have died in that wreck and she wouldn't have continued to treat her husband like crap and like he was a bad guy. Yes, cheating on your wife is terrible, however what she did can get you prosecuted in most countries. Especially if you're in a car driving.

If I were you I'd be more disgusted with the fact the stupid wife thought doing drugs and drinking was a good idea while pregnant over him agreeing to go there when SHE begged him.
