Trouble with pride

This movie is pretty sad and kind of a depressing watch but I do think it addresses a very complicated issue fairly well. That is Gang violence especially in a third world country. Just seeing how happy that gang member was after just having killed a man that was in his way it makes your blood boil. It shows how pride can get way out of hand and become very dangerous. It kind of shows how powerless people are in a third world country. What would happen if he refused to go to the bar would he have just robbed him right then and there? There obviously is no active police and most of the villagers would likely mind their own business. How do you even fix a problem like that? Education? military intervention? When that kid was just waving his hands in the air like he was a champion it makes one think "oh you think your so tough!?" But in that moment he was completely in charge and in control and nothing could stop him. I think it's why we love characters like Ironman or batman it makes it feel possible to defend yourself in situations you'd otherwise be a helpless victim. This movie is overall very sobering.

Dave's mistake(among a few others)was getting on the scooter and being taken to the gang bar. Had he politely declined anything the guy was selling there is a 99.9% chance the tout would have rode off looking for another customer. Off course this story is fiction but how many people in their right mind would hop on the back of a scooter to be taken who knows where to buy drugs in the middle of the night in a third world country? Think of the risks? Being robbed, assaulted, killed or arrested and jailed. Or a combination of those.

"He killed sixteen Czechoslovakians. Guy was an interior decorator."

Especially when he was already so high and drunk that he could barely even stand up. He clearly had issues before he even started. I think he was unmanned by the fact her boyfriend kept buying everything and his money was "useless" there. I personally wish he had been brutally stabbed. Had he just left and kept his dam mouth shut, they'd have both lived. Or had poor Jeremy just turned around and clobbered him in the jaw, taken his wallet and handed all the money over..

But alas, two people who deserved to be roadkill in this movie were not and one that didn't really, was.

Which one that did not deserve to be road kill ended up as roadkill?

His mistake was screwing his wife's sister ... how stupid is that. So stupid in fact that if we knew about it before the plot unrolled we would not bother watching the stupid movie, so they movie lied just as bad as the characters in it.
