Mother was wealthy!

She had a very nice home with pool. Couldn't she have helped with costs?

reply

The pool was only of her or from the other houses too?

If we're going to talk about the real world, if the little girl's father died, the mother would be receiving social security benefits and the little girl could be deemed disabled and probably eligible for Medicaid. But it's the movies, so I believe.

Understand thanks for the info.

And Medicaid doesn't pay for experimental procedures.

Additionally, Medicaid is need based. With two incomes, they probably don't qualify. Disability only kicks in if a parent can't work because of doctor appointments and need to care for the child. She wasn't blind enough yet. She could still walk around and go to school.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Could very well have been a community pool!

Having a home with a pool in LA is not a big deal. Probably a third of the homes have them.

She could have bought the home decades ago when housing was affordable.
