Did anyone else not really like this?

I LOVED the original Far Cry when it came out, so I've always wanted to have a look at this series.
I'm one of the people that didn't have a powerful enough PC to play the first one when it came out, but got the second one on 360.

I always thought the first one looked great - Is it any better than this though?

I just found it very repetetive and lacking in atmosphere.
The dialogue was well performed, and the storyline was ok...but yeah I just didn't find myself at all invested throughout this game.

well everyone has their own type of games they love the most and far cry is by far one of my favorites as well, but crysis takes a much different approach and is pretty similar in some aspects but mostly its about a supersoldier or at least a suit that causes one whereas far cry is about being trapped on an island with terrorist..
crysis has developed into a much different series than far cry, crysis takes more of a straight forward action approach and even though the first one takes place on an island much like far cry its strays to the city in the second but still has the same feel as the first just a much different setting...both game series are amazing and i give them both a solid 10! but far cry is ultimately my favorite series...however the solid gun play and action goes to crysis, both are great but if ya didnt like it, its whatever lol

I like it and I don't at the same time.

Sure it is fun but it is very linear and you can't explore all the gorgeous looking environments that you are in. You really do feel sandboxed into a particular path and that felt really disappointing.

Not to mention the game holding your hand most of the way telling you what buttons to push. That sucks..

Just finished Crysis 2 and the first one was way better in terms of story, gameplay and atmosphere.
The first one feels a bit similar to the first Far Cry where it's divided into levels, but the levels are so big that it feels like an open world.
