Julia Roberts absolutely EXTRAORDINARY

This was a superbly acted film with such a great ensemble of actors. As good as Ruffalo, Parsons and Bomer were, I have to say Julia Robert's was the standout performer in this film. I completely believed she was that wheel chair bound doctor and yet she is one of the most famous faces in the world. She manages to make you feel the same passion and the anger she felt for this cause, but at the same time, she made you see the private, deeply lonely life of the woman behind the white jacket who is yearning for a love her own. The scene where she dances with ruffalo alone should have won her every single award going that year as supporting actress. Bravo. This and her performance in Osage County are proving she is one of the most underrated actresses of her generation. Great performance.

Julia Roberts is often extraordinary. She's one of the most underrated actresses ever.

Curiously, I liked her least in "Erin Brockovich," which won her the Oscar. But she was wonderful in "The Normal Heart."

Oh, Jesus. Grow the f^ck up.

"What would you like to see on your honeymoon, Mrs. Cord?"
"Lots of lovely ceilings."

First, just let me say that I hate terms like wheelchair bound, handicapped, and disabled. Why? Because I myself am (what I prefer to call) physically challenged, having been born with the birth defect spina bifida. That being said, I love Julia! She's always amazing! I do wish, however, that her character has been portrayed as a more positive, pleasant person instead of someone who's become bitter with her situation. It really irritates me how frequently I see movie and TV characters portrayed so negatively. I wish Hollywood would attempt to show more positive images of people with physical (and mental) challenges...Just my two cents.

i think that was how she was in real life though

She wasn't bitter because of the wheelchair. She was bitter because she felt like she was in a losing situation and an uphill battle.

She is.
