What kind of dog is this? How come it doesn't get tired?

when the trapper is returning back from taiga he doesn't take the dog to the snowmobile with him. instead the dog runs all the distance (100 km? a long way afair). ok, i am sure they take breaks but how come the dog can take that much running? i'm sure it runs 15-20 km segments. also why does the trapper let the dog run? so it doesn't get cold?

What kind of dog is this?

All the dogs shown in the documentary appear to be mixed from various breeds.

The same way a human can be conditioned to run a 42 kilometer marathon. Conditioning. These dogs have been bred for wild, not generations of sedentary house pets.

They're working dogs. Running keeps them active.

A working sled dog can run 100 miles in 4 hours without a break, and that's pulling weight. Their food has low-carb and high-fat content that makes for great endurance:

That 150 km (93 mile) run would be a good little workout for Gennady's dog. Working dogs love to run, and they get ill-behaved if they don't get exercised enough.

BTW, some ultramarathon runners eat a low-carb, high-fat diet to condition their muscles to metabolize in a similar way to these dogs. They say they never bonk.

look at what migrating birds can do, animals are amazing compared to humans, especially ones not subject to much natural selection

After watching that scene it was no wonder to me why their dogs only live 4-5 years!
