Melodrama The Movie

I have to say I did enjoy watching this mess for whatever reason, but how is this movie regarded as good? Granted, it has some of the best actors around, but the story is melodramatic to a point of almost being a parody of a real drama. Every character looks like they want to kill themselves, no one is really likable, and if you could imagine something bad happening with the plot it probably will. I felt like it was written by a petulant 15 year old emo girl!
