Where can I read the original stories?

So I just watched this movie tonight, and I really enjoyed the individual stories. Especially the one about Avra, the first green lantern. Can anyone tell me what the actual comic issues/tpbs were, so that I could read them?

I did a wiki search, but couldn't find a list or anything. Thanks. :)

The Abin Sur segment is based on a story published in the 1986 "Tales of the Green Lantern Corps Annual #2". In the credits of the cartoon it mentions that it was illustrated by Kevin O'Neill, however they fail to mention that it was written by Alan Moore (they dare not mention his name on an adaptation). The story in question does not feature Abin Sur if I remember correctly, they likely switched Lanterns since he is in the movie (and has his own toys). When he is told his ring will fail him when he needs it the most, we actually get to see how it happens, where the movie just leaves it open. The annual features stories of the Green Lanterns greatest failures and defeats (as told by Sinestro).

The planet Mogo segment is based on a story published in the 1987 "Tales of the Green Lantern Corps Annual #3". It plays out pretty much the same (although I don't remember him having a fight before landing on Mogo). Also in this issue was a story by John Byrne which tells of a sector patrolled by "a million" Green Lanterns (the little yellow puffballs on the cover) and another Alan Moore story about making a GL in a sector of space that has no concept of day, night, sight or colors...hummm but they do have sounds... You can see him on the left side of the cover (and yes that is a bell on his costume not a lantern).

Not sure where the stories for the other segments came from...

I don't know about Laira's story (But I do know you can find the issue number in the references section of her page in wikipedia), but Kilowog's story is based on a tale from "Blackest Night: Tales of the Corps" #3.

You can find "Tygers" and "Mogo Doesn't Socialize" in DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore.

The Laira story is in Green Lantern: In Brightest Day.

The Kilowog story is in Blackest Night: Tales of the Corps.

"The First Lantern" is an original story.

We are The Corps!!!

It's my opinion that the Green Lantern DC Comic Series beginning in 1990 is the place you'd probably want to start. It's mostly Hal Jordan, but incorporates MANY other Lanterns, including John Stewart, Guy Gardner, to name a few.

Then, 2005 begins with Kyle Rayner.

Then, if you really want a twist, catch Hal Jordan as The Spectre!!!! But you'll want to start w/ The Spectre's 1992 series from DC comics. It's really not Green Lantern-esque, just a great run of stories, leading up to Hal Jordan becoming the Spectre!!!!
