in the opening scene some chick get ripped to pieces very graphically and very violently. not something id let my kid watch.

pg-13 at least

yeah i know the target audience is really people who dress up as their favorite hero to camp out for a week to watch the next star trek movie.

im not bashing those guys nor am i bashing the movie. im just saying as a guy who grew up watching the Bruce Timm dcau this the most violently graphically bloody death scene i could remember on a dc cartoon. and i was not expecting it.

i know just cause its animated doesn't mean it has to pander to kids. ive seen the animatrix and Beowulf and most recently uh the last starship trooper dvd looked like same style as beowolf now that i think of it.

yeah and im sure some one could come up with like 10 scenes that are far worse
but i bet those scenes are probably clayface faking a death or a clone or a robot

anyway buyer beware probably not ok for your kids

It's a strong scene, but still only animated, and not that graphic.

I grew up with Timm and his cartoons. I'm glad he's been able to have a little more violence in his animated movies. The cartoons were often too sanitized for my tastes.
