When he put down the book, did that mean that he finally gave up on Tommy?
Man, this is making me teary eye. Tommy wanted him to break up so that he can be with him but in the end, when it eventually happened, he leaves him. NO!
I like happy endings but I was glad they didn't end up together. It's more realistic this way because not all situations work out. I know it's a movie but we need to see this side in films too.
shareI was a little distraught about the ending, also. After watching, I looked up the plot of Crime and Punishment (the book Daniel leaves in the park at the end) and felt better about the whole ending. The ending of C&P has the main character, whom was living with a secret confession, confess his secret and, though he is sent to Siberia, his lover eventually takes him back (big, vague nutshell).
shareWow that was a hugely disappointing ending. The romantic in me would have loved it if they confessed their love and lived happily ever after, but I would've been happy if they could have at least met up again and remained friends. These characters deserved better than a lame goodbye standing on the pavement outside Tommy's apartment building.
