Why did Jamie kill the guy at the end?

And who was he? sorry, I found this plot kind of hard to follow, as others had. I really liked the film but I'm not even sure of the name of the guy and his relationship to the family. At times I even got him confused with Troy...

Please someone help me! Did the guy sexually abuse people or something?

i actualy found the the movie confusing as well but i rewatched it a few times and read the book and now have a sort of understanding as to what happend throught the movie.

the final vitim at the end of the movie in the snowtown bank was david johnson and if i remeber he was jamies half brother as if you remember jamies mother had had a few realtionships over the years. however i dont think that there was any real reasoning as to why he was killed as like most of the victims. bunting didnt realy need an excuse to kill and when he set his mind on something he went for it. in the movie most of the murders took place behind closed doors as the director was trying to giving the viewers an insight into the envirment as to how these people lived and possibly to what drove their lives. the killing in the book are realy quite graphic in that there are something like over 150 court supresion orders still in place today.

i appologize for my ramblings in this post but i just thought for anyone else reading as this might give them a slightly better insight to it.

Bunting killed this guy as he labeled him a "fag" and that was that. Bunting was a neo-nazi and like an Adolf Hitler type he had no tolerance for people he thought were inferior.

Just like Adolf Hitler, Charles Manson, Jim Jones, etc. Bunting was a cult leader with very bad intentions.

I saw no evidence that David (Jamie's stepbrother- both shared the same father-bald guy) committed any crime. He had a hot girlfriend/wife. I think he was killed because Jamie wanted his female. Bunting probably wanted to give Jamie a present by killing David (so Jamie could be with her.

I had read that they killed Jamie's step brother in real life but had no idea the victim at the end of the movie was him. That makes it all the more disturbing. The characters were just so hard to keep straight. That was the main flaw of the movie. I plan to watch it one more time after I've done some reasearch on the real crime. I think it's a really good movie but you shouldn't have to watch a movie two or three times to figure out what's going on.

Step brothers don't have any genetic connection. It means that their parents were married at one time. Dave is not the son or either Jamie's mother or father, or he would have been a half-brother. David Johnson had a different last name than Jamie and Jamie's half-brother Troy Ude.

Bunting hated David Johnson. He had labelled him a "fag" and had suggested killing him years before the actual murder as he believed Johnson deserved to die.

David, if you remember, had landed himself a good paying job as an apprentice mechanic. Bunting obviously thought this meant that Johnson was getting "above himself" and looked down on all the other residents, most of whom survived on dole payouts.

It didn't take much to tick Bunting off. I believe this entire "paedophile" hysteria was just a ruse. Bunting wanted to kill and sought any means possible to justify his homicidal tendencies. He "won" over the other residents by exploiting their hatred of child molesters. It made his sadist fetishises seem all the more plausible to him.

In the end he killed randomly amongst those whom he had initially endeared himself to.

I just watched this movie last night. I wondered the same thing I was viewing it, but noticed that this is the first time the main character has a look of hatred in his eyes. All throughout the movie, he is disengaged, terrified, and tormented by his surroundings.

But the look in his eyes toward this particular character at the end reflects that he's been converted to a criminal himself. He has dove off the same cliff as the surrounding murderers.

Incidentally, the corrupt wishes of Bunting have been reaped by Jaime.
