really good acting all around

The acting in this film seemed to natural and effortless. From the leads, to the small roles, everybody was superb. Makes me kinda wonder how the atmosphere on set was. There was a documentary feel a bit, especially in the scenes in the kitchen where they are having those meetings. Reminds me of Gummo a bit, of course very different in its own way.

Yeah. That's why it hit so hard. It was like a doc. I was confused for a second because my friend just put it on without telling me. The casting is incredible. i kept say that the just went to the mall or an abandoned lot for those actors and extras. And the way it gradually goes into the killings. It's tough to follow but worth it. Really dark.

I saw it in 2012. I really want to watch it again but it's so dark.

I completely agree. My understanding is that only John and the homosexual cross-dresser were played by professional actors. Everybody else was a walk on or local pick-up. For something similar see "Joe" and watch the performance of the old man bum. These people seem so real because they, in a sense, are not acting.
