Is that how self-centred some girls are?

I mean, Mandi was ruining a girl's chances at a top university, sabotaging her dad's career, got her expelled and framed her for the theft of almost $7000. And all for what? So she could be prom queen and because Jo didn't want to be friends with her? She flat out admitted that she damaged the car so the family would get no income and Jo would have to leave. I'm near the same age as Jo and no one in my school would be that mean over something so trivial.

I swear it's happening in all teen movies. I saw Princess Protection Program (don't judge me) and one girl threatened to reveal the fact that a girl was a princess who had run away from her country and would be put in prison by the man that took her throne if she went back, again just to become prom queen. Who even cares that much about being prom queen? It's a small moment of glory and a plastic crown, nothing to get people deported/arrested over just to win. Like Jo said, even if she had done all that she would have only won by default.

Yeah, you'd be surprised how evil teenagers can be. *beep* antichrists.

I listened, as if in a dream, to the wild improvisations of his speaking guitar.

I think this movie went a bit far with showing the evil things teens can do to torture one another, but teens are really bad these days--just not as creative as this movie would have you believe. I think it's because of our society's growing obsession with celebrity gossip and reliance on he internet to socialize. Kids have nonstop access to gossip and criticism---celebrity or real world, online or on the TV or radio or in magazines---and they realize that fame is achieved by people knowing who you are and thinking you are better than other people for some reason. So they try to get approval and attention from peers. They want to be funny and sexy and 'raw'...and in the meantime, they'll put down whoever they think is a loser (even real peers) in order to get their opinions out and make themselves look better. Unfortunately, these insults are done via technology like text messages, formspring, and facebook, where everything said is potentially available for others to see. Their gossip doesn't end once their mouths close, and it lingers and hurts for years until someone finally erases it.

The cyberbullying in "Mean Girls 2" was weird since it was videotaped and shown on a school-indentifying website (how would the school not know what's going on on this site and take it down?) and even on the school TVs. There's no way that could happen regularly. But kids totally have their cameraphones at the ready all day, and will tape bullying as if it's something funny to be shared online. It's pretty sad when people record teen fights rather than try to stop them. 9_9

Obviously it's not real- but even in 'film land' surely Jo would have told her told and they would have had mandi arrested?
