One long big ad...

...for Walmart.

It was a decent family movie, so I didn't mind. It's like those CBS movies.

Family movie? On a Friday night at NBC? It was advertised as sci-fi, not as a family movie! And there was no sci, only fi, and even that was not good.

The acting was poor for a sci-fi. The only decent actors were LeVar, that little kid with the gummi worm in his nose, and the two bad guys. The rest of them sounded like soap opera "actors."

It was advertised last April as the next family movie coming out. Also, they've had commercials from Walmart advertising Family movie night. I knew that this movie was for family movie night. I also new that it was Science Fiction. The acting might not have been perfect, but at least the movie was clean. I'm tired of seeing movies and shows that have sexual immorality, extreme violence. and foul language in them. The violence was minimal, and didn't show graphic details. Even when, they were tested the Nanobot on the one man, they didn't show close-ups of what he looked like. You could see him, but all you really saw was a vague picture of his body. Also, I just looked at a trailer, and it lets you know that this movie was for family movie night. So, it was advertised as a family movie.

So lying, skipping school, breaking and entering, stealing airplanes, disobeying your parents and getting away with it, plus computer crime, all of that is fine as long as you do not use foul language? Very interesting.

They didn't say that was okay, and I never said it was okay. I didn't say the movie was perfect. The whole family was in turmoil. They never said it was okay. They implied that the whole family needed to change. An emergency came up and kind of put his skipping school on the back burner. Also, the movie was listed as PG, and that means parents are supposed to watch it with the kids to point out anything they think that a child should know or understand. They just decided to leave that part of story line, and not expound on any consequences for his actions. Also, he didn't get away with it. He nearly died as a result of disobeying his parents. This is a called a natural consequence for his actions. At end, it implied that he had learned his lesson. They just didn't go into a lot of details.

There weren't as many Walmart commercials as in the last one. There were a lot of commercials for businesses that weren't associated with Walmart or Proctor and Gambel. I thought the movie was good. I wish they had shown the one that advertises family movie night. I'm talking about the one that shows all the different family members getting ready to watch a movie on Family Movie Night. I know someone who was in that commercial. I didn't see as many products advertised inside the show as last time. They did advertise the product for clean water in one scene, and the boy was using a video game system / enhancement that Walmart advertised. I don't recall any others.

I agree. It was much more reserved than the product placement in Secrets of the Mountain. They had whole pantries full of Walmart groceries and Procter & Gamble cleaning supplies.

The X-Box Kinect inclusion was clever IMO as it helped demonstrate the new device. The Pur water cleaner was also a different kind of placement too. The only real blatant Walmart one was the Great Value brand pudding or yogurt the mom was eating at the start of the movie.

reply

I didn't notice what she was eating. I didn't mind that they had all those Walmart brands in the first movie. I thought it was funny. We buy a lot of store brands.
