Who has seen this?

Who has seen this documentary? It looks like a lot of fun.

I have fond memories of the National Lampoon, particularly the "True Facts" segment and the record albums they released. Bad taste never tasted so good.

Thanks for the tip. Am I going to get busted if I download it from there? And more importantly: Is my computer going to get a virus?

reply

I've been downloading there for about a year and yes, you're open to viruses so it's best to register an account for free. Password, name, etc. and this seems to keep the pop-ups away and no piggybacking crap. Just remembered though that this site uses Nitroflare permalinks so you may have to sign up with them as well. This Avaxhome site is Russian I believe but every hour 24 hours a day they're uploading all kinds of docs and movies. And no, I've not been busted....yet. I DL all the time and HD it. Best of luck, let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thanks very much for the insight. I'll probably initially see if I can find this on DVD at my local library, which is where I find a lot of new releases now that almost all the video stores around me have closed.

I just got a new computer, so I'm being very cautious about malware. I was convinced for years that my old computer had some viruses, but I took it in to be de-bugged and they didn't find anything substantial. Then when I upgraded my Internet service, it went absolutely bonkers and locked up completely. I know I could have tried to have it cleaned again, but I just wanted to start fresh because it was old anyway. But now that it's out of commission, I might try to do what I can to debug it and use that one to visit sites that might put me at risk, using it as a secondary computer.

I read National Lampoon occasionally in the '70s and '80s, and I found it hilarious even (or is that especially?) when it was gross. I also have all of the National Lampoon record albums, which have some very funny and amusing material and music.

Anyway, thanks for the tips, and I'll let you know what I think of the film once I see it. Have you watched it yet?

Thanks so much for the links! I will explore those sites further.

But I'm a little bit suspicious because there are some very recent releases there, and it seems too good to be true. Even though this is the Interweb, I'm very much an "old media" type of person, and I still watch movies on VHS, especially because I find a lot of stuff that's not available elsewhere. I do watch movies occasionally on sites like YouTube and Hulu, which seem very safe, and I haven't gotten that far out of my comfort zone. But I'll explore those sites gradually.

Thanks again!

Glad to of help :)
Don't be fooled too much, some of them turn out to be trailers, and some of the full movies that are very recent are TS rips or Cam copies. But usually the sites I've posted the 2nd, will exchange the the copies asa there's a decent/better rip version (usually a little before the DVD's get out in 'the western countries'. But like you said, do some exploring, older movies should be there, if not on the one site, it'll be on the others. watchmovies-online.ch has a good collection, and lets you do request too; the putlockers aren't bad either, but lack the options for personal contact (problems, requests), the watchseries site is very good and extensive. What am I saying, you'll find your way around them soon enough for sure.
Have fun exploring! :)

Sounds good. I'll do some exploring and see where it leads. Thanks again.

I just watched it on demand. It's a very entertaining doc. I've read just about everything there is to read on the Lampoon and I still found it interesting. A handful of solid laughs too. They did a great job editing. Only thing I think it would;ve been interesting to go into the end of the Lampoon with all that J2 BS in the 90s and Tim Matheson partnering up to purchase it and of course what's become of the name, attached to all these low budget sex "comedies." But I get why they passed on including that. Maybe there will be some bonus materials on the DVD covering that stuff. If you're a fan definitely check it out.

Thanks for the details. I'm going to check this out. I have very fond memories of the National Lampoon, though at at the time of its heyday I was too young to appreciate the humor or even get a lot of the jokes.

It's too bad it doesn't discuss how it became the imprint for all those films, because I've found their connection tenuous at best. The first "Vacation" movie was based on a story John Hughes wrote for the magazine, but the other films seem to have nothing to do with it. It seems National Lampoon became a brand that betrayed the magazine's subversive tone.

Now more than ever, we could use a good humor/satire magazine for grown-ups. Spy was on a roll for a few years, but it crashed and burned after it became a men's fashion magazine of sorts.

Now on Netflix

Just watched it on Netflix. It’s very informative. I loved the magazine as a kid, and it also covers the radio show, albums, and movies.
