Left me wanting more

This was a perfect summarization of the magazine. I grew up reading it and watching all the movies and I even bought some of the albums. I really wish it went into the "unfunny" years after the 80s crept up on us. There was still a lot of good writing in those years too. But I guess they ended the documentary on a high note. Well, not counting Doug Kenney's death. I never understood why Kenney considered "Caddyshack" a flop. It made lots of money at the time. And if he were alive now, he'd still be glowing in the glory of how universal all his movies came to be.

Plus, two David Bowie songs as background music. How timely.

I didn't know practically anything about the magazine before watching this other than it somehow inspired the cinematic masterpiece Animal House which I first saw when I was in my teens about twenty years ago.

I'm watching it again now, never gets old!

If you watched this on TV or streaming, I'd recommend you get a hold of the dvd if you want "more"...because there's quit a lot of extra stuff on it.

I wouldn't have minded if this had slowed down a bit and provided some real context on the magazine's quality and influence rather than the breathless fanzine that this documentary is. Still, it's absolutely worthwhile. 7/10 stars from me.
