Why did it bomb so badly?
I have not seen this but I refuse to believe it is worse than many other movies that have done even better at the box office.

This film was an experiment by the distributor to release a movie simultaneously in theatres and on demand. See this Washington Post article: http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/oct/12/dual-release-of-trespass-disappoints-nicolas-cage/
That would likely partly explain the dismal theatrical performance.

I've seen worse films getting a theatrical release. This film couldn't get money at the box office because it was only released in 7 theaters in the US or something like that. It only end up making $24.000 because it wasn't released in enough screens. I don't understand the poor marketing work. The film wasn't that bad.
shareTo avoid further damage to their careers I'm guessing Kidman and Cage wanted this film pulled.
I'm leaning more toward Kidman because Cage couldn't care less.
His been in far worse turds than this.
Thats true actually: Season of the Witch, The Wicker Man. Knowing. All of these are examples of movies that had a proper theatrical release but are worse than Trespass, even though Trespass was definitely bawz.
shareBecause it stank to high heaven.
