Watch Secuestrados (Kidnapped) instead

I started to watch Trespass the other night and immediately spotted the similarities to Miguel Ángel Vivas' 'Secuestrados', and while it was obvious that Trespass was an attempt at an American remake (although I don't think officially) that is where those similarities ended.

Never since the American remake of The Vanishing (Spoorloos) have I seen such bastardising of the original formula.

My advice is to simply ignore Trespass and watch Secuestrados, if you feel that you really must watch both make sure you watch Secuestrados first and then prepare yourself to witness what Hollywood do best, 'rape'.

I Agree

But is this an official remake, or a copy
I've just seen the trailer, but the beginning of the movie looks the same.

It's just a copy, not an official remake. The houses even look kind of similar, a shameless rip-off if I had to guess.

And the OP is right, kidnapped was WAY WAY WAY better. It was actually a well made and thrilling movie, all taking place in 12 edits (I believe that was the exact number - could be wrong).

This however was garbage in every sense of the word... 4/10

Yes, the similarities were rather obvious, especially in the beginning, and I was surprised it was not credited as a remake. In the end, the authors of Trespass developed the story differently, but Secuestrados was a much more powerful and suspensful movie.

i had to turn trespass off after about 20 mins. secuestrados is one of my favourite horror / thriller films and trespass was in danger of ruining its greatness. a blatent copy. i just hope the writer of secuestrados got some money off it.

I saw Secuestrados and I liked it.

I liked Trespass at least as much. Actually, probably quite a bit more.

Sure, they both feature home invasions but that is hardly unique (e.g., think Mother's Day and Panic Room, to name just two other movies using the same idea).
