Who else is reminded of Kidnapped (Secuestrados)?

These two movies look SO similar, but I loved Kidnapped, and I'm sure I'll love Trespass

That's the first thing I thought of. Didn't watch Kidnapped either. This subgenre torture porn used to be the stuff of Japanese movies such as Red Room, The Man behind The Sun and Guinea Pig as well as the American underground films. Now it's become more crap from Hollywood.

I actually thought this was a remake it's so similar.

reply

I thought the film was a lot like Panic Room.

Secuestrados is much more raw. I hated its end.

I think the premise is similar, but the movie is a lot different.

The lion and the calf shall lie down together but the calf won't get much sleep.

reply

Total rip-off, but "Secuestrados" is miles better.

reply

Yeah, I was thinking Panic Room but without the benefit of Dwight Yoakam. I have to admit, not Shumacher's or Cage's best work.

reply

I like that many others picked up on that too. Well, this is the Americanized version , so everything is much more vanilla...

*SPOILERS*

So many of the key ingredients to Secuestrados were taken out of here. I was disappointed by that, but Trespass did add some sick twists (the kidney and that the villains ever would even think of taking Avery's kidney). Now, having seen Secuestrados again, I have decided it is the more brutal and realistic of the two. Think about it: Would a real life family have walked from a situation like that? Probably not. There were just so many similarities between Secuestrados and Trespass (the police showing up and getting killed, the "Take her out to get money" aspect, the crashing into the telephone pole to rid of the villain, the open the safe, which was much shorter than Kidnapped, and the "I'll kill your daughter" plot, and the nice villain). My god. Even the house was similar!

Agree with all of the above, also at the start both mothers didn't want the daughter going out instead wanting her to stay in and eat. I honestly thought it was a remake.
