This cast is dynamite... and welcome back, Ms. Trotta!

Can't wait to see what she can do with the material; what they can all do.

having liked her old hit Die Bleierne Zeit, I was extremely dissapointed with this, the direction was very poor, the cinematography even more, the acting (apart from Hanah Shygula) was below par. This seemed like an average tv movie at best.

Janet McTeer was so fabulous that I nearly turned the sound back on.

I assume you mean Barbara Sukowa. Schygulla was in many Von Trotta movies, but not in this one.
