Does anyone know what type of cake they are putting candles on? It looked almost like a stack of mini donuts stacked two high. Is this a traditional French birthday cake or some other kind of pastry?

Well this is a pretty old post but I just saw the movie and it looks to me like a Gâteau St. Honoré. Fantastic cake, if you get the chance to make it or buy it don't hesitate to do so. You will not regret it.
