argon vs acetylene
Jeff Zausch in 905 Blackout: "When the water drips on the calcium carbide, it produces argon gas, which is very flammable."
Sorry Jeff. Not only is argon not produced when water drips on calcium carbide, it is an inert gas that is absolutely not flammable. Acetylene is produced in calcium carbide lamps.
Just another little thing that would have been so easy to fact-check. Or maybe they did and Discovery figures it isn't worth going back to correct. They just don't care whether what they are showing has any basis in reality.
IMO, this show has degraded to the level of E.J. and Jeff's stomping grounds - Naked & Afraid. It is now worthless as a source of survival facts. Sad compared to the days of Cody and Dave.
