Renesmee's heart does beat much faster than a humans and was mentioned several times throughout Breaking Dawn. In Breaking Dawn, Kate or Carmen asked Edward what that thrumming sound was coming from the other room -- just prior to Edward and Bella introducing Remesmee to the Denali clan for the very first time. The hummingbird reference, however, was Edward referring to Bella's rapid heart-rate, when she was trying to get up the courage to let Edward know she wanted physical intimacy with him prior to her vampire transformation. From Eclipse:
"I struggled, trying to find exactly the right words to open with.
'Listen to your heart fly,' he murmured, 'It's fluttering like a hummingbird's wings. Are you all right?'
'I'm great.'
'Please go on then,' he encouraged."
Rest in peace, Roger Ebert. You were the best.
