Poor Charlie - he lost his daughter

Even though she's physically there, Charlie has no real connection to her. And she refuses to explain what is going on. Poor guy

Explaining what Bella has become to Charlie will get him killed or turned. But there's a way around that. Charlie is dating Sue, and if they get married he could be included at the council meetings, where he will be let in on all the secrets of the wolves and vampires. Being a member of the council, and stepdad to two members of the wolfpack, would afford him protection from the Volturi. Although, book Charlie didn't want to know all the details, so he may opt out. 

Stephenie has written bits and pieces of Renesmee & Jacob's story, so we may find out one day how it all plays out. *crosses-fingers*

She never really cared for him. She couldn't wait to join the Cullens and leave Charlie.

Heck, plan A was faking her death. Bella never really had a connection with Charlie despite how much he tried.

I know she was so selfish, obsessing over being laid up with Edward, having a baby and expecting her father, to just forget about her. Her mother on the other hand could, she was so self absorbed and ditzy. I hated Bella in this movie. Ungrateful spoiled child.

reply

Sound like most teenagers to me. Besides, every child has to leave their parents behind eventually. And anyway, Charlie moved on & got himself a Wolfie new girlfriend.

Yeah, but it was too easy for her, I never saw one scene and I doubt there is a deleted one, where she is rethinking or struggling with the realization she will no longer be human, or see her father who is concerned about her ever again.

reply

Yeah, those scenes don't exist. Bella was so anxious to escape with her new awesome vampire family, she didn't really bother to think about her other family that she's known for 19 years.

You are sin.

Yep, just another example of things in the movie that just weren't believable. I know Edward was the love if her life, but Charlie really made an effort to be involved and take care of her, while her mother seemed to be the one I could see Bella not bothering with. Weird how at no point she calls or writes to Bella or press Charlie whay Bella has been up to.

reply

I gotta say, the books are even worse. Bella makes a big deal about how close she is to her mother, yet they hardly even call each other, or even exchange emails.

You are sin.

reply

Yes! She is so cold towards her father all the time. Edward has more compassion for her father than she did everyone else does. She is so consumed with the Cullens and Edward. Rosalie tries to explain to her the importance of human life and giving it away with so little regard. It just flies right over her head. Teenager or not she doesn't care for her dad.
