Superman severely de-powered in this film

That last fight was un-bearable...this is *beep* Superman...and he's gettin his ass handed to him by Darkseid...Supergirl did better than he did

After he came back from outer space I expected him to unleash hell on Darkseid...but like usual he gets his ass handed to him...best showcase of Supes power was when he wiped out the Doomsday clones with his eye beam

Only character that should be able to stand toe to toe with Supes is Doomsday....

...and Hulk...=)

I hate it when people contribute uberstrong as a trait every hero should have.

Superhero is already TOO strong in the comics with writers who imbue an insane amount of power in each hero.

I love it when a hero gets his ass kicked. Don't judge a hero how he falls. Judge him on how he gets back up.

Aside from Doomsday, Darkseid and Captain Marvel are able to stand Toe to Toe with Superman. Darkseid usually always throws Superman a beating in the Comics and in the Cartoons. Captain Marvel is said to be the only Superhero to match Superman Blow for Blow, and has even overpowered superman when they've fought.

what about martian manhunter? i'm not a hardcore dc guy but i do read a few titles and major events and i remember in blackest night that he made a comment that "everyone forgets that i'm as strong as superman" (then he picks up a building)

how true is that?

reply

I could answer but I stayed far away from Blackest Night. I saw a few excerpts of it when a friend was reading it. I glanced over the 'Rainbow Superman' page and decided it wasn't the comic for me.

remember they said they would de powered Superman in TAS, for me he was far stronger than in the TAS, it's ironic how here Darkseid blocked his rays just like Sups did to Darkseid in the TAS. In the comics he is able to move planets, change time, etc he gets depowered in the TAS and animated movies.

reply

You really don't know your mythology do you? Darkseid has ALWAYS been portrayed as being just as powerful as Superman.

And maybe we watched a different film, but I'm pretty damn sure Superman ended up thrashing Darkseid at the end with his little "tornado-of-punches" move.

reply

Yea...after that "tornado-of-punches" move he still got his ass kicked by Darkseid...

The way the fight went Darkseid would've destroyed Superman had Kara not activated the Boom Tube..it was like watching Doomsday pummel Superman

reply

I agree, it was horrible,,, Me, as a superman fan, don't expect him to be omnipotent in every incarnation. I agree that an overpowered character can be boring, but at least he should be respected, and showed to have the power to stand up against his own enemies like he always have.

The movie was good, well written, witty lines, but lame powered superman

You wouldn't arrest a guy who was just passing drugs from one guy to another.

reply

I don't know. Darkseid looks like he can go toe to toe with Superman. The guy is a freakin beast. I think its an even fight....However, I really think the Hulk can beat Superman.

reply

Darkseid is often, though not always, portrayed as tougher than Superman. And the movie severely depowered his omega beams; I mean, they were about as powerful as Cyclops' blasts.

reply

I think they all were kicking a$$ and getting their a$$es kicked. Only reason the fight ended was because Supergirl got a hold of the boomtube.

Lois Lane=Leia Lane

reply

Wow guys, you all need to pick up some books and read them. Darkseid is DC's version of Thanos, at least in a power level kind of thinking. That being the case, he is a cosmic level power, and should be every bit as strong and tough as Superman. I found the portrayal of both in this movie were pretty accurate, and am extremely impressed with the movies that the DC animation studio is producing.......

reply

There are quite a number of people who can go Toe to Toe with superman. Wonder woman, Zod, Darkside, Doomsday, Kara, captain marvel are all people who can fight and hold their own against superman. Even Hal can go toe to toe with Superman for a little time.

But in the long run very few can beat him because of the whole sun healing him constantly thing.

reply

Well of course Zod can go Toe to Toe with him since they are both Kryptonians under the influence of a yellow sun.. they should have the exact same power.. the only factors that could tip the balance would be body/muscle mass and experience/training, take away the yellow sun or you know.. place the fight on Krypton and they would simply be two dudes brawling in the streets and usually the one that has the most experience fighting and hits the jym more often would win

Is it not a matter for tears that, when the number of worlds is infinite, I have not conquered one?

reply

Actually, Wonder Woman did find herself being overpowered when she fought Superman in the storyline: Sacrifice.

Zod has army hand to hand combat training which he has displayed in the comics when they are shrunken and depowered, but Superman sometimes visits a dangerous predator filled planet near a red sun to rely on basic survival skills and not just his powers.

reply

Not only all what you all have said, but everybody was talking all this shht to him. Wonder Woman telling him what he AIN'T gonna do or what she IS gonna do (to him), and then one of the Amazon girls telling him 'not to do that again'.

If I was Supes, I'd been like, 'Or WHAT!?!' Not only did they de-power him physically, but psychologically, too. I mean, who the hell says don't do this or that to Superman?

It was bad enough they were drawing him with guy-liner on. But this other stuff. Lol.
