lousy choice to voice darkseid

for me michael ironside will always be the voice of darkseid

reply

Agreed

reply

I agree. It was awful.

reply

yup see when i see dark side

i cant help but hear ironside's voice saying

LET THE UNIVERSE HOWL IN DESPAIR FOR I HAVE RETURNED!

reply

Whoever voiced Darkseid on the old Super Powers show will always be the voice of Darkseid for me.

reply

Andre Braugher was too soft spoken for me. I would have liked to hear Michael Clarke Duncan or James Earl Jones. Or the obvious choice, Michael Ironside.

Upon a second viewing I thought Andre Baughers voice for Darkseid was brilliantly done.

reply

I didn't like his voicing of the character either. Now I know that having a deep voice doesn't mean you can be a good villain. It took me out of the movie.

Lois Lane=Leia Lane

reply

I actually couldn't even finish the movie because of the voice acting for Darkside and Supergirl. I think I could have done a better job as Supergirl, and I'm a dude with a deeper than average voice. Summer Glau needs to learn how to emote.

reply

I like Andre Braugher so I thought it was cool that he was involved in something to do with Batman (even though it was mostly a Supes 'n Supesette story), but I agree that he might not have been the right choice for Darkseid. Another role and he probably could've been awesome. He had the calm part of the voice - which is an aspect of Darkseid's terror, at least to me - down pat, but he lacked the harrowing forboding that went along with the calm in Michael Ironside's Darkseid.

In response to the poster who said they couldn't finish because of his voice and Supergirl's, I tend to agree to an extent on Summer Glau. Didn't come across great, but then again, blonde teenage girls - from Earth or otherwise - don't generally make the greatest orators so perhaps from that standpoint Summer did a good job.

Andre Braugher just came off as a second rate Kevin Michael Richardson impersonator to me.

MCD would've been a much better choice for Darkside, since Timm couldn't be arsed getting Michael Ironside back.

reply

That was Frank Welker, doing his Dr. Claw voice.

reply

Me too, I mean as the movie went on I got use to his voice but every time I imagine Darkseid speaking I can't hear anyone else but Ironside, its like Mark Hamill and Joker or Conroy and Batman.

reply

I have never seen Darkseid in animation before, and I'm not all that familiar with the character. Even so, I found Darkseid's voice to be underwhelming, and not in keeping with his appearance.

Sadly, the voice acting for Darkseid was pretty weak.

Straightedge means I'm better than you.

reply

I'm watching the film on Directv right now. You'd think someone would have spoke up about how weak Darkseid sounds and directed Andre Braugher to sound more menacing. I'm a huge fan of the actor but this was downright embarrassing.

I'm a huge Andre Braugher fan all the way back to his Homicide days. Sadly I have now discovered a role he totally failed at. He was ineffective all around as Darkseid.

I have to say it even detracted from my overall enjoyment of the movie.

reply

Andre was OK, but I agree that he didn't sound menacing enough for Darkseid.

reply

Agreed, he sounded like one of those late night DJ's on an R&B station, "ladieeesss...are you in the mood for love?" Not menacing at all.
