How is Melanie Laurent in this movie?

I'm a big Melanie Laurent fan and have seen just about everything she's ever appeared in.

Is this movie worth seeing in order to see her in it?

How much of a role does she have?

reply

She's very pretty as well as talented, but she's wasted in the movie as basically the girl you know will be kissed in the end by the hero. She does get an equal amount of stupid dialogue as the other characters do, if that means anything.

So no, don't bother.

If you're a fan of Melanie Laurent, the movie is definitely worth seeing. She plays an Interpol agent who is assigned to help the FBI on a case, she gets treated like crap right from the start by the FBI agent she's assigned to, she stands up for herself very well, and she's the voice of reason in many a scene. She also gets a lot of screen time.

reply

Yes, definitely see it, Melanie Laurent has a major role and she has lots of dialog and screen time. Plus the movie is very entertaining, just watch it for that and don't try to think too deeply about it.

Make a choice, to take a chance, to make a difference.

So she is playing as well as she did in Inglorious Bastards.
I don't like her much, there's not much of an facial expression on her portfolio.

I think she's lovely, and has a beautiful voice. She did a great job with her character, too. I'm sure you've seen the movie by now or have decided not to, so this shouldn't be a spoiler...
The part on the plane where she is talking to MR about magic is one of my favorite parts. She's obviously intelligent, but still sees the value of entertaining people with magic. I like that glimpse of innocence and excitement, especially when her card trick works.

It surely comes as a surprise to see her in this poor flick with a completely nonsensical story. Maybe she was teased by the a-list casting (Ruffalo, Caine, Freeman, Harrelson etc.). She is charming as always, but her performances is pretty much wasted because her character (as well as all the others) has not depth or credibility.

reply

She is decent but her character is forced into a random romance with Mark Ruffalo for some reason.

you might say this movie is your typical cauvanistic male dominated watered around script which makes more room for a script than there is so seeing that laurent attitude is somewhat perplexing however she's does her thing which is kinda counter-demanding but astute for herself
