Hypnosis Doesn't Exist

It has to be accepted by the person "hypnotised" They do it because they want to.

Fun movie, fake movie. Enjoy it as fantasy.

Its one of those things where it gives people an excuse to allow themselves freedom from inhibitions and to let go. So true people in general likely can't be hypnotized but the ending effect is real because people can just say...well I was hypnotized or they don't remember.

This is different than behavioral hypnotherapy where for example over time they try to convince you to quit smoking. The trick there is to get you relaxed and tell you something over and over when you are in a more open state until you start to believe it or you can convince yourself go believe its true. Going back to smoking, the example would be I stopped smoking and I feel ok.

that is not even remotely true.

one doesn't need to believe or accept the hypnotism.

Hypnosis most definitely exists! It is a thing, deal with it. It is possible to reject hypnosis but you would have to be aware of it and that leads into a long discussion about human psychology etc etc...

The point I wanted to make is that Magic (in this sense) is not real, this movie is not a true story, it is obviously fantasy and people aged 13 and over are deemed to be old enough to understand the fundamental difference between fantasy and reality. If you are under 13 you shouldn't be watching it anyway but kudos for setting up an IMDb account when you were 5!

Lmfao Hypnotising someone doesn't just mean putting them to sleep and making them do whatever you want. Hypnotists just like Illusionists (magicians) study the human brain for years and figures out how it works and how to trick it. Our brain can for sure be tricked. All you smart asses on this thread feels like you saw everything coming and none of this tricked you, but don't think for one second that your brain can't be tricked. Hypnotists have the ability to make people beat addictions, make them feel hot or cold, make them feel like their in danger at certain moments. Hypnotising someone is definitely possible. It's like another form of "magic".

Well, this movie takes place in a world/setting where magic is apparently real. Perhaps hypnosis is real in this world too?

I went to Las Vegas and volunteered to be hypnotized by Marshall Sylver during a show at the Stratosphere Casino. This was back in the late 1990's. If you want to know the real truth about hypnotism... read on.

So, a large group of us are on stage. We go through this whole count down process, where he spoke in a soothing voice. I remember the music and the lights, and him repeating about how sleepy we were. "Your eyes are getting heavy" bla bla bla If you just let go - you will fall under suggestion. I remember feeling very sleepy, but also very aware of what was going on.

Several participants were excused, and only a few of us was left. I guess they weren't able to let go.

Mr. Sylver told me to run around the stage screaming "Beep Beep" when he said the word coyote. He said it several times throughout the show. In all honesty, I was just following orders, but I wasn't hypnotized. I was wide awake.

BUT ----

Later he pulled me to the side while some dancers where entertaining the audience. He said that he knew that I was awake the whole time, and he thanked me. Then he asked if I was willing to try again. I felt a little stupid and embarrassed, so I reluctantly agreed.

He went through the whole process of counting down again, just like earlier. Again, I was still fully aware of everything, but this time was different. I felt fuzzy, like I was drunk. He gave me a little torch and told me I was going to swallow fire.

I don't know about you, but that is a pretty scary thing to do. He told me the secret to the trick, of how to swallow fire without burning yourself. He kept reassuring me that I was completely safe. He kept repeating himself... with a soothing voice until I was no longer afraid, and I did the trick.

Do I think people can really be hypnotized? No, not like how most people imagine it. It is just a matter of wanting to let your mind accept suggestion. I think his voice, the music and the lights had a lot to do with it. It is like you are intoxicated. People are open to do stupid things when they are under the influence.
