Allura's still a princess?

They did a time jump between the current series and previous Voltron series.
Everyone's aged. Allura's still just a princess. Shouldn't she be a Queen by now? Or does she have to go through some process to become the queen?

reply

Well, if you want to get super-technical about it, she should have become Queen as soon as her parents died, but in the real world, generally monarchs that young don't assume all their responsibilities right away and are assisted by a Regent. I figure they'll get around to explaining why she isn't Queen yet, just as soon as they get around to explaining how she has a fourteen-year-old redheaded niece.

That is one thing I wondered, but then, I thought it was a stretch that she was still a princess in the first series. Obviously "queen" sounds too old for a character children can relate to.

Maybe it's like Star Wars and you have to be elected Queen, but they haven't ever had a long enough stretch of time between robeast attacks or other problems to hold an election? lol

I think Allura has to marry a prince in order to become Queen. I remember Coran mentioning it a couple of times in the original cartoon.

Age aside that was my ulitimate assumption, too. Shoot! I've gotta find time for the original show. I love details in all areas of life.
