Panahi lost his appeal and so is still due to serve 6 years in prison and the 20 year ban on making films still stands. After the film played at the Cannes Film Festival his friend Mirtahmasb who filmed the action was arrested for espionage. Panahi later made a film in secret called Closed Curtain which played at this year's Berlin Film Festival.
