Why do they still call this Ice Age?

There hasn't even been an ice age since the first movie, so why do they insist on calling it Ice Age still?

reply

It bears the "Ice Age" name only because its the name of this franchise, and I have to agree with you. Whats the point in calling a movie "Ice Age" when that era barely exists? Only the characters are present in order to resemble this title.

This is all in for the money, and all they are doing to extend this franchise is messing up history to get attention. Dinosaurs? Christmas? Continental drift? What the F!? For a fan of the first two films, I find this insulting, and I personally believe that this is dumbing down the intelligence of kids.

This franchise is on life support.

My name is Karlamon but you can call me Karlamon.

Hey, I felt even the second movie was a bit off-whack, what with the 'one big happy community' message, did Diego suddenly go vegetarian or something?

Dumbing down?? It's a cartoon. Do you honestly think Looney Tunes and the rest are designed for rocket scientists?

Seriously man, get a life. It's a CARTOON!!!

Exactly, i like Ice Age for what it is, a dumb, funny and entertaining kids movie.

Also Scrat is hilarous, new trailer is funny as

Insert @V@T@R

It's the name of the franchise. Not only that but the franchise makes more money with each installment, they of course want to keep name recognition. Did Jurrasic Park 2 and 3 have anything to do with the actual park at all? Alot of movies stray away from the original idea and go with name only.

reply

Good point. Similar to the "Friday the 13th" movies or even the Nightmare on Elm Street series.

Every person that served can be called a veteran, but not every veteran can be called a Marine.

I agree. Technically, only Porky's and Porky's III had anything to do with the character Porky. Porky's II just had the characters who acted as if the bar had never existed, except in the opening credits.

Well, they both occurred on the island that served as the park's "breeding ground", so there's that.

Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.

But they weren't in the PARK - and they were different islands.

reply

Because people know it by this name...it's what the franchise is called. Have you ever asked yourself why Madagascar is still Madagascar when it's not even about that anymore?

Because...of all..the ICE!

Technically the world has been in an 'ice age' since the beginning of the Quaternary period 2.6 million years ago, as an ice age is defined by ice being present at the poles and the formation of glaciers and ice caps on mountains.

I think the more disturbing thing that people are missing the point of is the trailer says that this film is happening 2 million years ago when the first film was clearly set in the last 20,000 years (note the human beings).

You reminded me of this and now I feel disturbed... I have to keep telling myself it's a cartoon and a kids' movie.
