Why bother calling it 'Gacy House'?

I grew up in the Chicago suburbs at the time when the bodies were taken from the house. We (teenagers then), saw the house during that time. It looks nothing like the house from the movie. Also the original house was leveled in an attempt to find any & all bodies hidden there. In the 80's a new house was built. It was a very nice modern brick home, nicest on the block. Not long after it was built, there was vandalism done to the garage door on more than one occasion, people spray painted nasty things on the door. Home ownership changed many times. The last 5 years or so, the inhabitants let the place go. Some of the windows were boarded up, tattered curtains hanging in the windows that weren't boarded. It was dark inside (at night) Grass grew over 2 feet high, weeds & all. The place looked abandoned. One night a group of us, now adults, took a walk over there. Being that it looked abandoned, we didn't think anything of it. Two of our group went around back, and the rest of us were on the front lawn, when a woman opened the front door and screamed at me to get out of there or she would shoot! I thought maybe it was the two people who went around back may have gone into the house to play a joke on us, so I took a few steps closer and called out their name, but realized it was a disheveled crazy looking lady holding a shot gun, so we all ran.
Seems to me the real house is scary, BUT I doubt that woman would let anyone around to investigate paranormal activity. Though if there were ever a place that probably has paranormal activity, Gacy's real house would be a good bet.
