What exactly was Snow White hoping to gain? (Somewhat long)

Don't get me wrong, this was a pretty decent kid's film and for the most part everything fit together well. I might be forgetting something though, what was Snow White looking to gain from attending the ball? Was she hoping to reveal herself to the Lords and Ladies as a strong competent leader? Because when the Queen looked at her, Snow said to the Prince "I have to go", and darted away. Any bold unmasking would have had the exact same outcome, and I don't know how sneaking around with no one recognizing her would have helped her get the kingdom back.

One more thing: would you have done anything differently if you had been caught at the ball in Snow White's place? I get why for the sake of the film she mouthed off to the Queen, but if I had been Snow White I think I would have kept my mouth shut. Queenie didn't seem to be any more of a threat than she had been at the beginning of the movie. She probably would have just smirked and called Snow a few more names before locking her in her room or something, she really did not look like she was in the mood to execute Snow White until she decided to have an attitude and go all "LET'S TALK ABOUT WHAT'S IMPORTANT, I AM THE RIGHTFUL RULER OF THIS LAND, YOU HAVE NOT RIGHT TO RULE THE WAY YOU DO, WAIT, WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ARE SENTENCING ME TO DEATH?! WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU DO THAT??"

All in all, I liked the film rather more than I liked the Snow White and the Huntsman film. Huntsman looked pretty but the story went all over the place like the writers weren't sure which direction they were going in and the ending was not to my liking. This movie looked pretty cheap, but the writing at least knew what it was going for and most of the plot made sense.

No, I think she just wanted to simply attend the ball. Earlier in the movie, she had tried sneaking into the chess game and the queen asked her if there had been a fire, because why else would she be out of her bedroom? And then Snow asked if she could attend the gala, because it was her 18th birthday. And then she snuck out and ventured into town (after meeting the prince). I think she was just rebelling against the queen. And I mean, it was her 18th birthday, she probably wanted to celebrate. But she didn't want to deal with the queen's wrath, which is why she tried sneaking away when the queen caught a glimpse of her at the ball.

She attended the ball because the Baker lady told her a prince was attending, one who has an army.
She was going to ask him for help in taking down the queen. She didn't know the prince was the man she met in the forest of course.
It's all explained when she comes back from the seeing the town for the first time.

She wanted to solicit the foreign ruler to collude with her and send in his army to launch a military coup with herself as figurehead to depose the government.

She went to the party to try and get the prince's help to fight the queen- as shed recently been to the town and seen how bad things were.
