The previews made this look like a worthy heir to Metropolitan

I saw the trailer at the beginning of another Blu-ray and was struck by the dialogue that reminded me so much of that earlier Stillman film, yet seemed at the same time fresh and original for a new generation of actors and viewers.

So it was incredibly disappointing to find that after a few minutes, I found the characters hard to take. Apparently it is a fine line to walk between affecting and winsome on the one hand and affected and tiresome on the other, sadly. And I know it's not just that my tastes have changed, because I just recently saw Metropolitan again and enjoyed it greatly.
