Ninety days out ... and is this even happening?

It's now ninety days until the proclaimed premiere of this film, on 11 April 2012, in at least a preliminary or "film festival" version.

Is this going to actually happen? I am coming to doubt it, and if that premiere date is met, I'd be extraordinarily surprised.

On the one hand:

~ Neil Schulman has received at least initial funding to begin filming.
~ Some scenes set in a TV station have already been filmed in Pahrump, thus activating sheltering provisions for investors under a now-expired element in the federal tax code.
~ The legal infrastructure has been set up.
~ An initial call for crew (paid and volunteer) has been made.
~ Several secondary parts have been cast.

On the other hand:

~ No additional producers, one of the usual signifiers of additional investment, have been announced.
~ No announcements beyond that of Alongside Night LLC's initial news release, seeking crew, have appeared, nor does even that one seem to have made the (publicly searchable) trade press.
~ The only visible result of any preparations has been a stream of Photoshopped advertising posters, appearing on Facebook.
~ Neither of the two teenaged leads (Elliot and Lorimer) have yet been cast, for if they had been, the production company would have promptly announced it.

To this observer, none of this augurs well. Especially for having a viewable (it won't really be polished) version being put on screen in a mere ninety days. I remember well how, despite the "Lady Magdalene's" principal photography having proceeded with alacrity, the post-production dragged on over months, as Neil reported on it to many of us in Los Angeles.

I'd be delighted to see a burst of activity erupt in the coming week or two, making my doubts unfounded, but the latter points above are quite telling. Especially the last one: How can any substantial amount of filming proceed when the protagonists have not yet been cast?

Neil is known for being doggedly persistent, but still ... I wouldn't advise buying your travel tickets to Virginia for that April premiere just yet.
